Official Lexicon

LEXICON POLICY

As the Collins Coalition, playing with the same dictionary as the rest of the world is core to our mission. We value being citizens of the Scrabble-playing world and aspire to become a member of WESPA and to have CoCo tournaments rated by WESPA. To support those efforts and to encourage international players to come play their home lexicon on our home soil, we use the official WESPA lexicon at all CoCo tournaments and clubs.

COLLINS LEXICON UPDATE

WESPA has announced that its official lexicon at all WESPA-rated events will be CSW21. In line with the effective date announced by WESPA, beginning on January 1, 2022, the official lexicon for all CoCo tournaments and clubs will be CSW21. This lexicon update removes 419 words; it does not add any new words. (Note: HarperCollins Publishers refers to the new lexicon as CSW2022. CSW2022 is the same lexicon as CSW21.)

  • Ulu: To load the new CSW lexicon into the Ulu app, follow these instructions:

    • Open the Ulu app.

    • Click Settings, click Lexicons, and scroll to the bottom of the screen to click “Add a lexicon from the web.”

    • Paste this text into the Lexicon URL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gagbzhzbe2900ua/CSW22.txt?dl=1

    • Name the lexicon CSW22.

    • Click “Add Lexicon” in the top right corner and watch magic happen!

  • WESPA Initiation Kit: You can request a copy of the WESPA Initiation Kit, which contains a list of the removed words up to eight letters in length, by emailing us at info@cocoscrabble.org.
