We're coming up on an even one-third of the way through the calendar year 2026, and we've got a moment right now to stop and reflect on the year of CoCo tournaments we've run so far.
Recapping a weekend of Scrabble, running, and beer in Portland, OR
Players enjoyed a weekend of Scrabble tournaments - a 1-day on Saturday afternoon and another one Sunday - sandwiched around a 10k running event in downtown Portland on Sunday morning. In other words: Scrabble and beer, followed by running and beer, followed by more Scrabble and more beer.

On Sunday, four Scrabblers met up at the 50 Sims building in Providence, RI for an afternoon of Scrabble. Matthew O'Connor took home the title, his second CoCo tournament victory of 2026, with a very solid 5-1 performance.

All parties involved agreed to tweak the schedule and play 9 games instead of 8, which allowed each player to enjoy 3 matchups against each of their 3 opponents. Ah, yes. The dreaded triple round robin.
