Word Cup Day 2: Anderson wanders into the lead
We're just about halfway through Word Cup 2026 here in Williamsburg, which means we're reaching that point where the leaderboard really starts to take shape. And right now, there's one guy shaping it - Will Anderson, who won six out of seven games on Day 2 to put himself in a very solid position as we head into the second half. At the moment, Will sits a game and plenty of spread up on the rest of the field.
Will won five straight to begin the day, dropped just one, then capped off his afternoon with a 493-456 barnburner of a win over world champion Adam Logan. At 11-3, he's the man to beat - but there are a whole host of top expert players who will do their best to beat him.
Here's how the standings shake out at the close of Sunday:
1. Will Anderson (11-3, +1011)
2. Ben Schoenbrun (10-4, +274)
3. Dennis Ikekeregor (9-5, +-137)
4. Joshua Castellano (8.5-5.5, +406)
5. Josh Sokol (8-6, +584)
6. Matthew O'Connor (8-6, +452)
7. Edgar Odongkara (8-6, +412)
8. Olatunde Oduwole (8-6, +364)
9. Mohammad Sulaiman (8-6, +199)
10. Adam Logan (8-6, +-10)
While Will stands alone atop the table, it was also an excellent day for Ben, Dennis, and both Joshes, all of whom went 5-2 today to seize a top-five spot in the standings. As always, it's a crowded field of competitors at the top, and they will all have their chances tomorrow to make a run at the lead.
Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
