Seeking candidates for the sixth annual CoCo elections

For six years now, we’ve let democracy and accountability focus our efforts. We have welcomed many new players, directors, and tournament organizers and continue to find new ways to make the Scrabble tournament experience as enjoyable and welcoming as possible.

This month, we continue that commitment to transparency by holding our sixth annual elections. All of the CoCo’s leadership positions are elected. Elections are crucial to ensure that you all, the players, hold the power to guide the direction of Scrabble in North America. We know many players have ideas for how they want the Scrabble world to evolve. We hope you’ll share your vision by running for a leadership position or participating in our upcoming annual elections.

All CoCo members who reside in North America are eligible to nominate themselves as candidates for Executive Director or Board Member. The Executive Director leads the organization. The Board of Directors is the CoCo’s principal decision-making and governing body. All elected Board members serve two-year terms, while the Executive Director serves a one-year term. You can learn more about each role on our Leadership page.

People elected to leadership positions in this election cycle will begin their terms on Jan. 1, 2026. This cycle, two Board seats and the one Executive Director position are up for election.

The CoCo’s fifth leadership cohort has stewarded expansion of Collins tournaments to new cities and player communities. In the past six years, our membership base has grown to 430 Collins players. We’ve welcomed more than 40 tournament directors and organizers on board and sanctioned tournaments all around North America, including our first events in Canada.

Our leaders drive the CoCo forward. We are welcoming new volunteers, directors, and players to the CoCo team every month. We’d love for you to join us. To run for election, click the button below to register as a candidate by Friday, Nov. 21. After registration closes, we will announce the candidates here, and voting will begin. We hope you consider running, or share your energy and ideas with us in other ways.
