NACC Day 3: Wiegand, Fraley, Shin, Koehler: Your final four is set

The dust has settled at the North American Collins Championship (NACC), and all the (digital) results slips are in. We have our four semifinalists.

After a dramatic final day of preliminary round action, it's been determined: Dave Wiegand, Kevin Fraley, Austin Shin, and Kolton Koehler will continue to the four-player playoff bracket on Monday. They'll compete for the glory, the $3,000 top prize, and the title of North American Collins Champion.

Monday is gonna be fun.

THE SEMIFINALISTS

The playoff picture remained pretty muddled until the last couple of rounds. It wasn't until game 23 that things really started to take shape. That's when Dave notched his 17th win, ensuring that he'd take down the #1 seed, and Kevin emerged victorious over Quinn James, clinching a playoff spot as well. Kolton, with his massive spread, appeared pretty much uncatchable at that point too.

That left Austin and Rob Robinsky in a do-or-die matchup on table 1 for the final spot, and Austin prevailed in that one, getting a couple of hefty bingos down in the middlegame and toughing it out for the victory. Austin ended up passing Kolton in the standings, giving him the #3 seed and bumping Kolton to #4.

1. Dave Wiegand (18-6, +1,583)

2. Kevin Fraley (16-8, +861)

3. Austin Shin (15-9, -37)

4. Kolton Koehler (14-10, +1,004)
