Previewing the North American Collins Championship (NACC)

This is it! This is the event we've been waiting for all year. It's go time.

It was way back on Jan. 9 that we announced the North American Collins Championship (NACC) for the first time, and we've been building up to it ever since. Our team has been planning the event all year long - getting the venue ready to go, organizing a team of directors and streamers and other behind-the-scenes helpers, and promoting the tournament left and right. From January to now, we've made it clear - this will be the CoCo event of the year. And now it's here. All that's left to do is actually run the thing.

We're excited! As of this writing, we're looking at 39 players across two divisions. The top group is loaded, including six former national champions and a host of other strong experts, and the second division promises to be deep and competitive as well. The stage is set for a great event.

Come this weekend, here's what you can expect:

  • A world-class tournament in a world-class location. We'll be playing at the Crowne Plaza hotel in downtown Seattle, just a stone's throw from the Space Needle and other major landmarks.

  • A competitive event spanning four days in total - 24 games from Friday through Sunday, 8 each day, followed by a championship bracket Monday for the top 4 finishers in each division.

  • For the top finishers, there will be a best-of-3 semifinal series on Monday morning to decide the finalists in each division, followed by a championship match and a third place match in the afternoon. For everyone else, there will be an optional "Afterword" tournament Monday.

  • There will be big cash prizes! For the champion in Division 1, we're guaranteeing $3,000; there will be generous payouts for other top finishers as well.

  • For those staying home, there will be plenty of ways to follow along with the event. We've got a stellar group of streamers on site to broadcast all 30 rounds of the tournament, as well as plenty of other sources of live coverage. You can check our social media feeds (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) throughout the weekend, plus read daily updates on this very blog.

What more needs to be said? It's time to get this thing started. The NACC is here; let's get after it. Whether it's in the playing room at the Crowne Plaza or virtually via Twitch, either way, we'll see you Friday.
