Previewing Word Cup 2025
Everything's locked in. Everything's ready to go.
The stage is set. The field is finalized.
This coming weekend, it begins.
We've got 63 CSW players registered, 1 awesome city ready to host us, and 31 games of Scrabble over 4.5 days on the docket. It's here. It's happening. All that's left to do is pack your bags and head to St. Louis.
On behalf of our whole team, I can say: We can't wait to get underway. This tournament has been a long time coming. We started planning for Word Cup 2025 way back in April 2024. We selected STL last spring, we hand-picked the perfect venue, we announced the tournament in August, and we opened up for registration in December. Since then, we've spent all of 2025 to date promoting the tournament, recruiting players, and planning, planning, planning. Now, it's planned. Now, we do this thing.
If you're joining us in St. Louis this weekend, you can look forward to a top-notch championship event. Division 1 will be loaded with world-class players, and Division 2 will be deep and diverse with lots of intermediates and up-and-comers in the bunch. St. Louis is going to be a blast - you can look forward to good times with good friends, dinners, drinks, after-hours fun, the whole deal. There are a few extracurriculars to look forward to including a trivia night, a chess night, and group outings for BBQ, baseball, and more. Also, slides for grownups.
If you won't be there in St. Louis, we'll still do everything we can to provide an engaging tournament experience for you, too. There will be plenty of ways to follow along with the action. As always, we will have our live coverage page up and running, so you can follow along with all the standings and pairings and scores as they trickle in. We're excited to be streaming the entire tournament online for your viewing pleasure - Will Anderson will be your host for all 31 games throughout the event, alongside a rotating cast of co-commentators, live on Will's YouTube channel. Plus we'll have blog posts, social media posts, and all sorts of other live updates scattered across the internet as the week goes on. We hope you all enjoy.
As always, our goal is to put on a great championship event for everyone, including those who join us for the 31-game Scrabble extravaganza and those who prefer to follow along at home. If you're playing in St. Louis this week, we wish you the best of luck. If you're watching along, we hope you enjoy the show. Either way, we can't wait to get started.
