Witnessing world-class competition at the CURE4
For the fourth installment of this spring's virtual tournament series, we decided to do something a little different. Rather than start first thing in the morning out here in Seattle, we scheduled the CURE4 for 5:00 p.m. Pacific instead. The idea was to open the event up to Scrabblers all over the world. Our plan worked like a charm.

Annotated Game: Jackson Smylie vs. Cedric Lewis
Not much has changed since the last time we shared a tournament game in this space - we're all still quarantined, and our tournaments are still virtual. So we thought we'd share another game from our Computer Users' Remote Event (CURE) series. This one is from CURE3 - it's a matchup between Jackson Smylie and Cedric Lewis.

Scrabbler Q&A: Ben Schoenbrun
Welcome to another installment of our Scrabbler Q&A series. Once every month or so, we'll sit down with a member of the community for a lengthy interview about their life in Scrabble. Now seemed like the perfect time to interview Ben Schoenbrun - a.k.a. Bnjy - about the work he's done to create virtual Scrabble tournaments while all of us are stuck at home.

An international battle royale at the CURE3
This past weekend, we're proud to say we had players from seven different countries competing in a one-day tournament, including some from the opposite side of the world. Players joined us from the U.S., Canada, England, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Singapore.

Annotated Game: Josh Castellano vs. Sam Rosin
Here's an in-depth look at a matchup from our first CURE. The players are Josh Castellano, who would eventually win the tournament, and Sam Rosin, another one of the top experts in the field. Thanks to both players for agreeing to chat about their plays!

Coming together for the CURE2
Yesterday, we directed our second online tournament, the CURE2. This tournament featured a diverse field with first-time Collins players, people from three continents, and representation from many women and non-expert-rated players. Thanks for coming together from around the world, and congratulations to Ryan Fischer, our CURE2 champion!

Recapping the first Computer Users' Remote Event (CURE)
When we first announced the CoCo's founding three months ago, we had no idea that we'd be here today. And by "here," I mean cooped up in our respective homes, isolated from one another, with no way of meeting over the board. But what is life if not unpredictable?

Announcing the Computer Users' Remote Event (CURE)
We've decided to shift gears. This spring, instead of in-person Scrabble events, we're going to start holding virtual ones. We're ready to hit the ground running with the Computer Users' Remote Event (CURE). Because we may not have a cure for the coronavirus, but we can absolutely cure the boredom of being cooped up at home.

Scrabbler Q&A: John O'Laughlin
Today, we're introducing a new feature on the CoCo blog. Once every month or so, we'll sit down with a member of the community for a lengthy interview about their life in Scrabble - how they first discovered the game, what they've achieved in their careers, and so on. First up is John O'Laughlin.

Announcing 3 new CoCo tournaments
Our six initial tournaments have been filling fast, and we’re proud to share that we have stretched to meet that demand by expanding the capacity at all of our upcoming events. But we’re not stopping there. Today, we’re announcing the addition of three new tournaments to the 2020 calendar. These tournaments will bring the CoCo to new regions of the continent.
Recapping the Hood River Open
This year was our third annual Hood River Open, and we're proud to say it went better than ever. The whole weekend went smoothly, from the actual Scrabble tournament to the postgame meals to the after-hours festivities that make the event unique. We're so grateful to everyone who helped make the weekend possible.

Results from the Hood River Open!
It's been a wild and crazy weekend, and we'll definitely need a few days to recover, gather our thoughts, and fully articulate them in this space. For now, we'll just say: Thank you so much to everyone who came, everyone who played, and everyone who helped behind the scenes to make this event a success. We couldn't pull this off without you, and we're incredibly grateful.
Previewing the Hood River Open
With so much warm camaraderie in a beautiful setting, Hood River holds a special place in our hearts. We do all we can to offer a unique tournament experience to both new and returning players. This year, you can follow all the fun and games at Hood River live on the CoCo’s Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts.
New resources for directing CoCo tournaments
January has been a great first month for the CoCo. We have been busily fielding interest from about a dozen potential directors interested in adding tournaments to the calendar. To meet that demand, today we’re releasing several tools and resources that we’ve developed for directing and sanctioning CoCo tournaments.
