Word Cup Day 3: Castellano, Jighere lead the way

Day 3 has always been something of a "moving day" at tournaments like this.

On the first day, you've got a bunch of people who start 6-1, 5-2, and so forth. On the second, many of those top contenders will win another 4 or 5 or so, making for a crowded race at the top of the field. But often, what you see is that Day 3 makes all the difference. The very tippy-top players start to make their move, pushing to the top of the standings and setting up a race to the finish.

Today, the two biggest movers were Josh Castellano, who improved to 15-6 and maintained his hold on first place, and Wellington Jighere, who moved to 14-7. The field is still pretty open, and a lot of other competitors could sneak into those top spots - but for right now, these two guys are the ones to beat.

Here's the top 10:

1. Joshua Castellano (15-6, +654)

2. Wellington Jighere (14-7, +577)

3. Dave Wiegand (13-8, +1091)

4. Alec Sjöholm (13-8, +616)

5. David Whitley (13-8, +474)

6. Austin Shin (12-9, +896)

7. Peter Armstrong (12-9, +307)

8. Brad Whitmarsh (12-9, +199)

9. Laurie Cohen (12-9, +62)

10. Enoch Nwali (12-9, +24)

We've got 21 games down and 10 to go! Will Josh continue his run at the top? Will Wellington chase him down for the lead? Will someone else go on a run and break into the top ranks?

Tomorrow will tell.

See you then.
