This space is yours, too
Way back in 2019, when we first launched this website and announced the CoCo's existence to the world, the very blog page you're reading right now was one of the key building blocks underlying all of it. It was important, we thought, to have a place where we regularly published content that spoke directly to you all, the player community. We wanted you to have a clear, transparent view of our organizational perspective on all things CoCo and all things Scrabble.
The original vision was one that included all sorts of engaging content. We planned for live coverage of tournaments, announcements of various Scrabble news items, annotated games and strategy pieces, interviews with players, opinion pieces about issues in the community... in short, lots of stuff. We wanted this site to be a one-stop shop for pretty much anything you'd ever want to read about Scrabble.
But the most important thing was that this space was intended to be for the whole community to share. We didn't want a blog that just featured us talking at all of you once a week - no, we were trying to build a communal space in which everyone had an opportunity to share whatever Scrabble thoughts were on their minds. Guest blogs were supposed to be front and center.
I feel like we've gotten away from that mission statement a little bit. We've fallen into somewhat of a rut, and that's resulted in fewer new authors, fewer new perspectives. I went back through some old content calendar spreadsheets and checked - about two-thirds of all posts on this site since early 2021, I've written myself. This was absolutely not the plan at the outset, let me tell you. Originally we wanted this space, just like we want all things in Scrabble, to be democratized so that anyone and everyone can play a role.
I'm sure I've mentioned this at least once or twice, but I should definitely reinforce the point more often. You - yes, you! - are encouraged to write something for this here website here. Do you have an idea for a Scrabble blog post that you're interested in publishing? It could be about the tournament scene, the future of the game, your personal story as a tournament player, anything. It could be about Scrabble strategy or the Scrabble community or just... Scrabble in general. Whatever is on your mind - provided that it's, y'know, at least a little bit Scrabble adjacent - could be a blog.
So: Do you wanna write something? Let us know. Send us an idea today, and we can hit the ground running.
